End of West Zone Round 1 update

Yesterday marks the last day for West Zone Round 1 for all divisions.

Here is a summary of all our results from the round 1.

The B' Boys

* Evans is being covered by Jian Kai.
* Heng Yi is hiding at the right back corner.

The B' boys made it to the round 2.

I managed to go for all of their matches.
Overall, the B' boys did very well for all their match except for our first match with Hua Yi which we lost to them 0-5.
For that particular match, I feel that we did not lost in terms of skill, but we lost in terms of mental.
Maybe you guys needed the wake up call.
After that match, we managed to recover and I can see the drastic improvement in our performance which we followed to win for all the rest of the matches.

I hope that you guys keep this mental readiness up and also keep yourself healthy and conditioned for round 2.

And also, always remember to stay humble and you will go far.

The B' Girls

The B' girls did not make it to round 2.

It may be the last tournament we are going for as a SQSS Team for the graduating players.
You girls are really a very self directed and motivated lot. I really thank you for all your hardwork and contributions to our Team.
But... the end of tournament does not mean the end of Badminton. I will still need all of you to come back for training! Especially with the juniors. (At least until the end of term 1).

I managed to go for the last 2 of the matches and I really enjoyed watching all of you play.
For those who played, I can see the improvement you have made through your hardwork and for all those who did not get the chance to play, I can see that you all trying your best to provide the morale support to the Team and helping to off load the players who are playing by doing extra lines judge duties.

And thank you Xiang Min for organising the ice-cream treat.

As for the sec 3s,
Even though, this your first time to be in the B' division, I feel that you all did really well and i see a lot of potential in all of you and I look forward to seeing you all play next year.

C' Boys

* Dharshark left early that day and missed the shot.

The C' boys did not make it to round 2.

Through the tournament, I think the Team have gotten the chance to know each other better.
And also through the tournament, I think you would have realised the strengths and weaknesses of the Team and also of yourself.

I would like all of you to keep this in mind when you come for training every training from now onward and work on them.

Continue to train hard and i hope to see all of your do better for your next tournament.

C' Girls

* Siti was not present on that day.
* And why is Zoey in her school uniform???

The C' girls did not make it to round 2.

We lost most of the matches but we did not lose all. We managed to win against SST on the last day.
Do not be dishearten as most of you here still lack experiences.

I hope that all of you have gained a valuable experience from joining the tournament as a Team and that the bond between all of you as Team is now stronger than ever.

Now that the tournament is over, I would like to see the Team channel all your energies into training and I hope the Team will be able to achieve better results for the next tournament.

On the final note,

I would like to talk about this old point which i think i had already mentioned

1. We are representing the school as a Team for this tournament. In competitive sports, there will bound to be winner and a loser. There is a Chinese saying, 天外有天,一山还比一山高. Meaning, there will always be a mountain that is higher. So, remember to be humble and you will go far.

2. I do not wish any one in SQSS Badminton to have the thought of it, Moreover to hear that from any one of you.

"because of me, our team won"
"because of me, our team lost"
"because of you, our team won"
"because of you, our team lost"

And as a Team, we win as a team and we also lose as a team. There is no "YOU" and"ME" in a Team.

I am not trying to say that it is going to be easy but always keep this in mind.

And with that, we can make badminton a CCA that we all can be proud of.
