Cleaning up the Badminton Cabinet

During the holidays,

The teachers and the seniors have taken the initiative to clean up our badminton cabinet.

Yes, We have a cabinet for badminton at the back of the stage and this is a picture of the cabinet before the the clean up.

I almost fainted when i opened up the cabinet doors.

First, we de-cluttered the cabinet, then....

We sorted out the shuttles and put them into their respective boxes

Still not good enough

We even added labels to the box for easy identification

There you have it, our Badminton Cabinet with all the shuttles and nets locked up nice and safe.

The seniors really put in a lot of effort to make our badminton cabinet usable again. Please take very good care of it by returning all the items in the cabinet back to their respective places after use, so that it will remain usable for more years to come.

Shuqun Secondary School Open House 2014

22th Nov 2014 (Saturday)

We had our SQSS Open House 2014 on the 22th Nov 2014 (Sat) which is inline with the release of the PSLE result on the 21st Nov 2014 (Fri) and this is our booth.

This time, we manage to update our posters with our recent achievement, including the badminton court painting CIP, friendly match with Junyuan Sec and Ashaway Badminton Tournament.

Here are the closed up view of the posters

The turn out for the open house was better compared to last year as we can see more primary school pupils coming in.

Thank you for those who came down to take care of the booth on Saturday and also Sandy for planning the schedule for the open house.

And the updated poster would not have been possible without the help of those who came to school especially on Friday to prepare for the booth.

21st Nov 2014 (Friday)

Siying, Sabrina and Puiwoon coming up with the heading for our the poster

Heading without the colouring yet.

Consulting Miss Quek for the colours to be used

End of Ashaway Badminton Tournament update

We have come to the end of the Ashaway Badminton Tournament for this year.

No, no one came in as champion for their division.

But, this year, we have more players making it to the 3rd and even 4th round this year. Which i think is an improvement compared to last year.

I have made a copy of the results for this year's tournament for future reference.
Results for 2014 Ashaway Badminton Tournament

And i can see our players all getting warmed up for West Zone in January, which is only 1 month+ to go.

From now on, we really have to fully utilize each and every one of our training to get ourselves to tip top condition, both physically and mentally.

Last but not least, we would like to see more of our players participating in tournaments like these so that our players can gain more match experiences which really can make a big different during a competition.

And once again, CONGRATULATIONS to all the players who have participated in the Ashaway tournament for you have gained or solidified the priceless experience of playing in an actual tournament.

Ashaway Badminton Tournament Update

We gathered outside the school's gate at 0715 on the 16/11/14 ( Sunday) for our "Journey to the East".

We arrived at Pasir Ris Sports and Recreational Centre for Day 1 of the Ashaway Badminton Tournament.

Upon reaching the tournament location we collected our goodies bags and settled down for the matches.

Just look at all these happy faces after collecting their goodies bag.

Our girls team

Our boys team

As usual, the whole hall was in a mess, with participates rushing in for their goodies bag, kids running around and chief umpires trying to get the scheduled players to register their attendances for the following match.

But fortunately, the chaos gradually subsided after the commencement of the first match.

What the hall looks like after the chaos had subsided

I apologise for not being able to show how the hall looked like before the first match started because it was really chaotic.

There were both hits and misses. But what i observed in general is that all the players who played on that day played much better when compared to the friendly match against Junyuan Secondary School.

Congratulations to those who have managed to out done your opponents on Day 1.

And for those who did not, I want you take this as a learning experience and focus on strengthening your weakness during training. Meaning, to really take training more seriously so that history will not repeat.

It is also very heartening to see our players taking the initiative to root for each other during their matches. I certainly would like to see more these and I thank the seniors for showing such good examples to the juniors.

And here are some of the highlights for Day 1

Dinesh (1st match)
